Paint Fumes

Charlotte, NC

Five years ago, a car struck Elijah Von Cramon, sending the Charlotte garage-rocker flying and nearly killing him. Buoyed by support from fans and fellow artists, he returned to the stage only a few months later; his Paint Fumes continue with the kind of dogged intensity you’d expect from such an irrepressible sort. Their 2016 album, If It Ain’t Paint Fumes It Ain’t Worth a Huff, fits the modern garage-rock world like a broken-in pair of Chucks, bridging the ragged traditionalism of old-guard acts such as Oblivians and the sleek propulsion of new West Coast luminaries such as Ty Segall.
