With only a pair of 7” singles to their name and a long-since funded Kickstarter campaign for a proper debut, Chapel Hill’s Some Army is probably tired of the question, “When is your album coming out?” Fortunately, the oft-repeated refrain of “soon” got just a little more tangible when the band released the track “Infinite Mirror” and gave their long-awaited debut a name — One Stone and Too Many Birds. Recorded and re-recorded several times over, the album promises to meet and then exceed all expectations. The lead single’s cavernous drums, serpentine bassline, and vocalist Russell Baggett’s signature world-weary delivery recall the drug and anxiety-riddled heydays of Wilco or Spiritualized, shooting their alt-country explorations into some distant stratosphere.
