Hopscotch Tickets On Sale December 1
Submitted on Oct 28, 2011
Featuring more than 280 artists and 35,000 attendees in only two years, Hopscotch has quickly taken its place among America's most engaging music festivals. Now, with the last strands of September confetti swept away, we look ahead to 2012. Hopscotch returns to Raleigh Sept. 6-8, 2012. On Thursday, December 1, 2011, wristbands go on sale. Please mark your calendars.
As a show of appreciation for the fans who helped make our first two years so successful and fun, we will offer wristbands to previous ticket buyers 24 hours in advance. If you bought a wristband in 2010 or 2011, you will receive an e-mail soon with details about the Nov. 30th sale. Details about these wristbands follow. The lineup for Hopscotch 2012 will be announced April 18, 2012. Meanwhile, stay tuned to www.hopscotchmusicfest.com in the coming weeks for exciting news about new venues, partnerships and our emerging "Hopscotch Presents:" series. · Previous wristband buyers will receive an e-mail with details about a 24 hour pre-sale starting Nov. 30th.
"The festival is like a younger cousin to SXSW or CMJ...However, where the enormity of cities like Austin or New York make it all but impossible to jump between bars without spending your entire festival en route, Hopscotch is small enough that skipping between shows actually makes sense. Plus, roaming the streets between can't-miss acts leaves lots of time to run into new friends, get sidetracked into unexpected shows or end up on a random adventure. And there was plenty of that." —Mountain Xpress, Asheville
Update: Why eliminate the Club wristband?
There seems to be some questions regarding the elimination of the Club wristband option for Hopscotch 2012. As an organization that's constantly attempting to improve fan experience and better the festival overall, we thought we'd provide a few key reasons for taking this step:
- In our first two years, fans chose to buy the All-Show wristband over the Club wristband in a 6 to 1 ratio. In all, Club wristbands represent only 5% of the total Hopscotch tickets sold each year. As a reaction to this trend, one the fans have dictated to us with their purchasing preferences, we decided the relatively small allocation of Club wristbands might go to better use another way.
- From the beginning, several fans have asked for a single day pass. In response, we felt it was finally time to offer this option.
- By eliminating the Club wristband and adding a single day pass, we give slightly more fans an opportunity to attend the festival. The total amount of 3-day wristbands sold is determined by one single factor—the combined capacity of participating clubs. Each year, we've added more clubs in attempt to keep up with wristband demand, all while focusing on the walkability, footprint, and general experience of the festival. By making the switch from Club wristbands to single day passes, we felt we could accomodate more fans without upsetting the balance we've struck thus far.
The switch from Club wristbands to single day passes is a decision we're making based on the feedback we've received from two years of sales history and an expressed desire for a day pass. To date, the 3-day VIP and All-Show wristbands have been our overwhelmingly most popular options for fans. They are available in 2012 at a $10 and $5 price increase, respectively.
Ultimately, we want to continue to give fans various options for attending Hopscotch. Compared to festivals nationwide, we feel very strongly about both our pricing levels and the value offered at these levels.
Thank you again for your support. Please stay tuned for exciting venue announcements coming next week.
