Hopscotch & Cat’s Cradle Present The War on Drugs and White Rabbits
Submitted on Dec 08, 2011
Hopscotch Music Festival, in its first partnership with the Triangle's legendary Cat's Cradle, is proud to announce the latest addition to its Hopscotch Presents series: On March 9, The War on Drugs will join White Rabbits at The Lincoln Theatre. Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m., via lincolntheatre.com.
The War on Drugs are familiar to fans of Hopscotch; the band played the first festival, delivering a set that's still consistently mentioned as a highlight of the previous two years. At that point, the Philadelphia band was still between albums. With 2008's Wagonwheel Blues, they'd sounded the wake-up call for a new, rich and inviting mixture of classic-rock songwriting and noise-rock song-rending. Earlier this year, they followed through perfectly with the follow-up, Slave Ambient. More confident and developed, more expansive and accessible, the album delivered unlikely anthems about commitment and belief, all unified by a feeling that interesting sounds and indelible songs are not mutually exclusive. White Rabbits, who offered a thrilling vision of what music might sound like with its most basic elements recombined on 2009's It's Frightening, recently finished work on their third album. These bands are fitting tourmates, indeed—twin crusaders against the notion that rock 'n' roll has passed its creative prime.
Tickets for this show cost $12 in advance and $14 at the door. The show starts at 9 p.m., and the Lincoln Theatre is at 126 East Cabarrus St., in Raleigh. Hopscotch would like to thank the Cat's Cradle and The Lincoln Theatre.
Also, please don't forget: We present Hopscotch veterans Akron/Family at The Pour House Music Hall on Saturday, Jan. 7. Tickets are on sale at www.the-pour-house.com.
