Conceived in the dilapidated husk of the historic Catsburg general store in North Durham, What Illusions, the debut album from mysterious art-rock outfit Dirty Flowers, is a meditation on isolation, fear, identity, and finding hope in a fragmented reality. With a borrowed basement tape machine guiding their recording process, Dirty Flowers have crafted an experimental, collage-like sound, which blends clattering percussion, droning guitars, and haunting pop melodies.
