Hema Gaia

Hema Gaia is a queer multimedia artist and experimental musician born and based in Raleigh, NC. After performing for several years under the hyperfemme, alter-ego alias "Gudiya," Gaia now crafts cataclysmic scores using fragments of wildlife soundscapes, nature vlogger clips, popular songs, and their personal heavy-hitting electronic productions. Their live performances draw viewers deeper into the soundscapes through the layering of feral guitar chords, howling vocals, and visually stunning video projections. Gaia's art pulls focus to humanity's severing relationship with non-human animals, as well as their not-too-far-off animalistic past.
