hemlock is the alt-folk, Chicago-anchored project of Carolina Chauffe, whose song-a-day practice turns life’s smallest moments into stirring, intimate compositions. hemlock’s music leans into imperfection, guided by a “first thought, best thought” ethos that invites listeners into a world both deeply personal and universally felt. With deep DIY roots and a reverence for the natural world, hemlock continues to evolve—humble, headstrong, and ever in bloom. The hemlock full band features beloved Chicago music-makers Bailey Minzenberger, Andy “Red” PK, and Jack Henry (of Friko, Free Range, and Red PK, among others). Together, they self-released their debut full-length collaboration, 444, on October 11, 2024, which was recorded mostly-live in an immersive three days at In The Pocket (Chicago, IL), a week before Chauffe set out on what became a full 18 months of DIY touring.
